Dawn till dusk, novice life in Laos

Luang Prabang in Northern Laos is a true cultural and architectural gem, which is probably best known for its huge number of temples, and the orange clad novice monks that walk out at dawn from these temples to collect the morning alms, known locally as “Tan Bak”.

These young boys and men come from far and wide to study in this holy city, which is the religious centre of Laos. On a recent visit I spent time learning about them and their paths to enlightenment. Here are a few images and a short video instil into their daily lives.
