Thailands best sunrise spot

Chilling morning views from the north of Thailand

Sure enough there are some amazing sunrise spots to be found all around Southeast Asia; although few, if any, can beat high-rise natural lightshow you’ll find playing out on most winter mornings over the remote southeastern mountains of Chiang Rai province in Northern Thailand.

It would be inaccurate to say that Phu Chi Fah Forest Park is a secret, as Thai chill seekers from all over the country flock here during the cold season, as do several adventurous foreign visitors.

They come to watch the great golden ball awake from its slumber. Slowly but surely it raises its weary head and opens its bleary but bright eyes whilst squinting through the morning cloud inversion. This fluffy white mist carpets the mountainous landscape beneath, leaving just the tallest jagged peaks bellow poking through. From a deep cobalt blue to magenta fringed purple it gently fires into a golden blaze.

Yes, you do need to get up early and to hike uphill into the darkness, and then to shiver for a while. The due rewards for this are genuinely handsome and the memory long lasting.
